It all started …
Well, how it all started is covered at another blog.
Last night I had a hasty thought and, as is the way of The Internet, I tweeted it: “I will seriously do a nudie run around Brunswick if Jonathan Holmes ever says “pwned” on Media Watch.
Read the whole thing for the whole story. But in a nutshell, every Monday night since that day a growing group of Twitter users (using the hashtag #PwnedNudieRun) have watched Media Watch, trembling with the anticipation of hearing That Word.

But nothing. Weeks and weeks of anti-climaxes and anti-nudity.
Two days ago a #PwnedNudieRun supporter asked Jonathan Holmes a question via Twitter:
@jonaholmesMW As next week is #mediawatch ’s last week, please tell me you’re going to say the magic word. Also, is this really you?
And Jonathan Holmes answered:
@sunlightandsnow #mediawatch wait and see. yes its me. btw dispute in MW office. poned? pawned? how do u pronounce magic word?
Oh. My. God. Could it be that next Monday, around 9.35pm, there will be a spate of nudie runs around lattebelt suburbs across Australia?

Brilliant but what sort of weather would you prefer – warm so you don’t freeze your bits and/or make your willy look small(er), or cold, wet weather so that there are not many other people out and about to watch you embarrass yourself?

Jonathan Holmes is not as smart nor entertaining as he thinks he is.
In fact, I HATE him.
Everything is said with this obsequious tongue-in-cheek “I’ll let you in on a little secret” demeanour, while he mutters something about a spelling mistake in WA Courier.
GMAFB.
Media Watch went downhill after Stuart Littlemore left.
It has never recovered.

So many questions. Who will be the journalist or media personality that will be immortalised by an on-air MediaWatch Pwning?

I hate to ruin the excitement that no doubt we’re all feeling, but what happens if he says pwned but not in the way we’re thinking he will, ie, by going “stupid-so-and-so; PWNED!”
What if he just says it cold e.g, “i know people have wanted me to say the word pwned so there you go…” and then goes on with the show. Does this count? I would’ve thought that the whole point would be to get him to say it in the context we’re thinking of.
#27 by Dave Gaukroger on 9 November 2009 - 1:29 pm

I think that context is a must – someone needs to be pwned, it’s not enough just to say it.

I think we might have to call the lawyers in for this one, no mention of ‘context’ or any other caveats arounf JH saying the word:
“I will seriously do a nudie run around Brunswick if Jonathan Holmes ever says “pwned” on Media Watch.”
Bring it on!

I’m with Dave. Skeptic, i know groupthinkers would love nothing more than to CALL in the LAWYERS on this one, but i personally think it was implied not just by Scott’s original blog post
but also by the context of our tweets the last couple of weeks.
And Toby, believe me, i’m not the least bit scared, just a stickler for the rules.
If Scott was to weigh in on this one i’d be quite prepared to go with what he recommends, after all, it was his idea in the first place.

The word is the word.
It’d be awesome if JH uses it to pwn someone, but all he has to do is say it.
